I love the idea of creating ...This is a great post! I love the idea of creating an open space for students to get comfortable. This would definitely help with the issue I had last year of students huddling in corners and texting! Also, I agree about letting students choose their novels. I did the same thing for our Holocaust unit (let them choose their top 3 based on a pre-selection) and also noticed that engagement and ownership rose significantly.
